TIP - why not try swapping sugary drinks for water. May be use smaller plates (this can trick you into thinking you're eating more when your plate is full making the portion looking bigger). Check out more tips.

Making small, simple changes to what and how much you are eating and drinking can really help you lose the pounds.

Fitness

No matter how much you do, physical activity is good for your body and mind.

Exercise can also reduce your risk of developing heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, dementia, Alzheimer's disease and some cancers.

A daily brisk walk can boost your energy, lift your mood and make everyday activities easier.

Aim to be active every day. Why not make a start now - it's never too late!

Why not take advantage of our great on-site gym facilities to help maintain your fitness and support weight loss.

Our in-house Fitness Advisor is able to provide advice and support on physical activity, healthy weight management, diet and nutrition. This support is available to colleagues from all departments via the SYFR Occupational Health service.

For those not able to visit gyms or perhaps you prefer to exercise at home, a number of online workout sessions (ranging from 10-45 mins) created by fitness experts InstructorLive are available FREE from the NHS Fitness Studio's selection of exercise videos. Take your pick from 24 instructor-led videos covering aerobics, strength and resistance, pilates and yoga by clicking here.
