World Mental Health Day

Putting the spotlight on mental health

5th October 2020

With World Mental Health Day coming up on 10th October, I wanted to put a spotlight on the importance of health & wellbeing amongst emergency services personnel.

As ever, we’re all doing a great job of maintaining a fantastic service through the trickiest of times. General life stresses when combined with the pressures of emergency response, can be, at times, really challenging.

In light of this, the Emergency Services Show team are hosting a free 1.5hr webinar to help you learn from shared experiences from experts across the blue light sector.

To find about more and to sign-up for the FREE webinar click here – you will have chance to put questions to the panel of experts during the session.

Ask Twice

Did you know, a person is likely to say I am fine on average 14 times a day in response to “how are you?” This has been particularly prevalent in recent months where more of us are remote working, with fewer opportunities for face-to-face interactions and being limited to digital forms of communication.

Asking twice encourages us to break this ‘pleasantry’ barrier to show real care, concern and value towards one another.

Please remember that staying connected, talking and listening can be a great way to support your own and others mental health and wellbeing.

Optimistic October

“Choose to be optimistic. It feels better” (Dalai Lama)

Life is far from perfect, but there are lots of reasons for optimism. Setting positive goals for the future gives our lives a sense of direction and purpose. And although we may face challenges there are also lots of reasons to stay hopeful. By consciously choosing our priorities we can look to overcome issues, make progress and focus on what really matters.
