We know that a number of our employees are veterans of the Afghanistan conflict and we want to ensure that they are fully supporting during this time.

  • Health Assured Employee Assistance Programme.

Our new Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) gives you* 24/7/365 confidential support on mental health and many other of life’s issues or problems, not just work related matters. It is a service delivered by external provider, Health Assured.

* Spouse / partner and children 16-24 yrs of service staff living in the same household are also able to access support through this helpline.

  • The Firefighters Charity.

The charity offers both physical and psychological support and rehabilitation. As well as offering support, they also provide self-help information and advice on a range of issues.

  • SYFR Occupational Health Unit.

The service’s Occupational Health (OH) specialists are ideally and uniquely placed to support and help people stay in work and live full and healthy lives. Our OH department look to proactively prevent, rather than treat ill health in the workplace. The department has the ability to refer employees for confidential face-to-face counselling and physiotherapy services.

The Occupational Health Unit can provide support for any member of staff worried about their own or a colleague’s health. You can refer yourself by contacting the team on extension 2273, or emailing [email protected]

You can also self-refer by going onto UBIK. Once in UBIK click on absence management and then Add OH Self-Referral

OR

Your line manager can complete a confidential management referral with your consent, again through UBIK. This is done by selecting absence management, all staff view and then the medical briefcase next to the appropriate employee.
