Health & Wellbeing Blog – Practical resilience

The importance of resilience

16th November 2020

We all know that life has its ups and downs, and knowing how to adapt to adversity is essential to our health, wellbeing and happiness. Resilience, has many definitions, but I suppose I see it as the ability to bounce back from the difficulties we face.

There is lots of talk about how we ensure we have resilience as a Service, especially important given the current challenges. But now, more than ever, it’s important that we think about our own resilience also. I’ve talked quite a lot about this subject in my blogs over the last few months.

How can we put resilience into practice to cope better and boost our wellbeing in difficult times?

Hear from the Action for Happiness team along with one of the UK’s leading resilience trainer’s, Dr Chris Johnstone, to think about developing skills to support resilience and learn practical skills to cope better when facing challenges.

Chris shares his expert tips for cultivating our resilience skills and show how evidence-based Positive Psychology practices can help us cope better with challenging situations. He also describes how building resilience can be a way of nourishing our confidence, wellbeing and life energy.

Hear Chris share inspiring stories of people he’s worked with which carry powerful lessons for us about resilience. Whatever situation you face, Chris asks you to explore the question: ‘What would a story of resilience look like here?’ Whether you’re facing setbacks in your personal life, coping with work stress or responding to the challenges of COVID, you can nourish your resilience by applying the practices that help to build it.
