Why is it important?
The latest suicides statistics showed that in 2018, in the UK and Republic of Ireland, more than 6,800 people died by suicide. Every life lost to suicide is a tragedy.
And we know that suicide is preventable, it’s not inevitable.
But not being okay is still widely stigmatised.
What SYFR are doing to support Suicide Awareness
An amber alert memo was recently circulated to all staff prompting the completion of a short Learn Pro that aims to help reduce the stigma around suicide.
In addition to this we are also launching a 2 hour face to face training session that aims to cover why is it important we talk about suicide and provide people with the confidence and skills to help someone who they fear may be considering suicide.
If you would like to book this session for your team please contact Kirsty Thorley 07920098616 ([email protected]) to organise a date and time to suit.
If you require any additional support regarding suicide and general health and wellbeing please see the list of signposting and support we advise below.
