What will be expected of the Champions?
The Domestic Abuse Champions will:
- Be a point of contact for anyone in the organisation who may approach you for information relating to domestic violence and signpost to local resources and support
- Help to raise awareness and enhance the overall level of knowledge of domestic abuse within their work area in the organisation
- Have the opportunity to attend Domestic Abuse network meetings in order to meet other Champions to expand your knowledge as well as share best practice
Who can be a Champion?
Anyone can volunteer to be a Champion. The only skill set we ask for is that you are able to be empathetic and are willing to be a listening ear to any colleagues who may be struggling with domestic abuse.
What training will be provided?
Domestic Abuse Awareness (level 2 training) will be provided that gives an overview of:
- What Domestic Abuse is
- The dynamics of relationships
- How to recognise it
- Asking the question
- Signpost and support if a disclosure is forthcoming.
This is a one day training course that will be provided by an external partner.
The training session has been organised for the 19th October and will be delivered via zoom.
*For anyone who cannot make that date, a further session will be delivered at a date to confirmed towards to the end of October.
